Wow – what  busy start to 2025!

During the first quarter we took in 40 cats and rabbits. We also neutered and microchipped over 70 animals and helped more than a dozen struggling pet owners to get urgent veterinary treatment for their pets. This is a really big increase on the same period in 2024 and demand looks set to keep on increasing. The cost of living continues, vet bills keep rising and lots of charities are cutting back on their services. We are just glad to be here and able to step in and help those animals and pet owners who desperately need us. Our expenditure has already exceeded £40,000 and we rely on donations from local animal lovers as well as our Charity Shop in Windmill St, Gravesend.

The sorts of cats coming in have been quite challenging this year. We have helped lots of mums and kittens which had no safe place to go. Some of these kittens have needed hand rearing. Emma has been working with more than one multi-cat household. These are really tricky as often the cats are under socialised and susceptible to health problems as a result of their living conditions.  They take a lot of skill, time diplomacy and vet costs. However, if left situations will spiral out of control and the level of suffering will be enormous.
